Thank you once again for your faithful prayers for Joy and our family on our journey. Over the past 24 hours we went back on the roller coaster but thankfully, I think we are heading in an upward direction at present.
Your prayers and a new medication the doctor ordered certainly helped Joy sleep. She slept soundly, but as morning came, she really struggled to wake up and kept saying, “it’s not right, I’m not right, I’m not right, something’s wrong!” She was clearly distressed and very tearful. She could barely get two confused words out before she would break down crying. This happened through her PT, OT and Speech sessions, as well as our meeting with her doctor. It was hard not to be scared, wondering what happened in the night to cause her to struggle so much.
However, after eating a good lunch and taking a 30 minute nap, she seemed to wake in a much better place. She did her afternoon PT well and interacted well verbally with the physical therapist and when OT arrived to take her to her first shower since the accident, she looked at the therapist and immediately said, “I stink!”
Joy returned from her shower refreshed and happy, which we are so thankful for. With her staples out and her head freshly cleaned, Joy was finally able to don a hat crafted by Alyx with love for their mom ❤️. Joy loves its softness and warmth.
So we were once again covet your prayers for a good night of sleep without the new medication and for waking refreshed in the morning. And of course for continued physical, cognitive, and emotional healing as well. Thank you all for riding this roller coaster with us. Knowing we have your faithful company and support carries us through the downs and means so much. We are also thankful that we can be celebrating our upward trend together as we look forward to a new tomorrow.
