Prayers for Final Details

Updated: Aug 21, 2024

Good morning faithful friends and family. Once again, we cannot thank you enough for your overwhelming support through your prayers and expressed concern.

While Joy continues to exceed expectations, our transfer out of the ICU to the surgical floor felt like a move to a whole different planet. Too few staff for too many patients, difficulty in obtaining the needed information for acceptance at inpatient rehabilitation, insurance authorization, and the medical flight, made for a rather challenging day.

Two bright spots in the day were Joy’s time with OT and PT, absolutely tremendous therapists who showed remarkable compassion and empathy. And, the visit by her attending physician who is also compassionate, empathetic, and a man of great faith.

In our pursuit of home our final hurdles are the authorization of inpatient rehabilitation by BCBS and the hospital providing necessary details to the medical flight provider. Things that one would hope would be simple procedures, have been painfully difficult to accomplish.

We thank you for your dedication, compassion, and support. I hope to post later today on our progress.
