Good morning and thank you for your continued faithfulness in your concern, interest, and compassionate prayers for Joy and our family. Yesterday we saw Joy adjusting to the PCU and visited by occupational therapy and speech therapy. She had periods of rest, but also periods a wakefulness. Her wakeful times range from a gentle smile to periods of confusion and disorientation. Playing music, sharing audio recordings, and trying to help orient her to what has happened, and what we are planning moving forward, filled the day.
Then in the early evening we got word that a bed at Select Specialty Hospital had opened up and at 10:00pm Joy transitioned once again. Here is the address information for Select Specialty.

Select Specialty Hospital

We are pleased with the opportunity for Joy to be in a setting that can treat her many physical and cognitive needs while beginning rehabilitation therapies as a major part of each day. We also heard that the hospital has developed a special program for “Rapid Decannulation” which is working aggressively to get patients who have tracheostomies off them safely but more quickly than traditional methods.
So this morning our requests for fervent prayers remain much the same: pray for miraculous healing of Joy’s brain injuries, return of feeling/sensation/movement to her right side, overall healing of her many physical and cognitive wounds, and for progress in moving toward her cranioplasty which still remains the major impediment to an eventual return to Minnesota.
Thank you as always for standing by Joy and our family, your love, prayers, and support are palpable to us. Please don’t let up.
