Hello friends, family, and faithful followers. Yesterday was largely a repeat of the day before with the added joy, of seeing Joy, take some beautiful baby steps with both feet. Obviously well supported by staff, she moved both her left foot and right foot forward taking 3-4 steps. She also sat up in a wheel chair and spent time with OT following commands in picking up an item, stacking them, and handing things off to the therapist. While the therapists and I were cheering her on, it was clear that with her new level of awareness, which in itself is a good thing, she is assessing just how challenged her recently healthy body is and clearly showed frustration at her limited and faltering movement.
So as I’ve been asking the last couple of days, please continue to pray for Joy’s emotional as well as her physical and cognitive health. Joy did have periods of peaceful rest and times of wakeful smiles. There were fewer questions yesterday but still the same theme of why are we here and when can we go home. And after days of refusing music, today she gave a thumbs up so music is back in our life.
I would anticipate the remaining days until Monday’s surgery will largely mirror the past two, so I will probably not post daily unless there are notable changes in her condition and/or behaviors.
Joy’s body is still healing from the multiple fractures she sustained in addition the trauma to her brain and trauma to her wounded emotional health. Please continue to hold up her multiple needs in prayer even if there are no new updates.
